$540 is the low, $780 is the high estimate for my dog’a paw laceration. While we were drinking around the fire pit, she managed to slice her paw open while chasing rabbits so much we had go to to the emergency vet. There goes my KO2 tire for this month. She’s lucky she’s cute.

Ouch! Literally.
Glad she’s ok. Did you find the weapon?

I’m pretty sure they evolved cuteness as a survival mechanism.

Imagine how much it would've cost if it was your foot instead!

Small world.
My doggo slashed open a p ad on her back right foot today on a jagged rock on the beach, chasing birds.. . It was open but stopped bleeding quickly... Still deep and gross . We bandaged it up with Neosporin. My wife worked at a vet clinic before we were married and she’s consulting her former employer tomorrow if it doesn’t improve.

Honestly, about $375 at a walk-in clinic, and if you’re lucky you might even get antibiotics if the doctor chooses to glance at for more than thirteen seconds.

That’s about what the dentist bill will be for myself and the Lad to both have checkups on Wednesday.
On the other hand , stit ches in a cut foot wouldn’t cost a cent...

I feel you, bud. Sammy’s leg is a little puffed up and may require a vet visit. I’m just in constant fear of her leg getting necrotic and needing to be amputated.
But isn’t a dog so worth it?

After all the bulldogs we’ve had I think we deserve a wing of a hospital named after us.

That’s a good
girl and an occasional vet bill is a small(?)
price to pay...as I know only too
well.

That seems very expensive, I’m lucky thought and have a vet we love. We moved so we drive an hour to go to them now, but been using them for 15 years and they’re amazing.
It’s been a long time since we had a cut foot to deal with but last fall she had a burst anal gland that required putting her under and some minor surgery to fix and I think that only cost us $250.
Man was that 120 pound Newfoundland miserable with a cone on for 2 weeks while she healed... The amount of things she knocked over and broke boggles the mind.

Easier to justify with dogs. I got two cats with various medical needs and I’m like, “Jesus Lord, I’m reaching my ability to rationalize these expenses (but somehow I do) .” But doggos be like, “JUST SAVE MY DOG! Here’s my wallet!”

That is, indeed, how it happened, although it probably worked both directions. We favored the ones that acted more like puppies and less like ravenous wolves.
Thank goodness.

I suspect it might cost a lot less if the vet cold just ask the dog to hold still while she stitches it.
Hope she’s back up to speed soon.

I paid $6000 to have a tumor removed from my dog. It hurt, but thats what it is...wasn’t going to let her die because of that. Of course, she died of a stroke 6 months later.

That's often the story, unfortunately. Also tumors returning again and again...

My insurance is great so probably not a ton out of pocket. She ended costing $585 and is completely freaking out now. Poor baby.

I know I know. I have three of them and I’m trying not to run a total since I’ve had them. It’d equal a decent car for sure...

Expect to double any cost for emergency 9pm visit. She was bleeding a ton and wife freaked out and would not wait for the morning.

I wish we could do that. Most of the costs are related to anesthesia

I hope it gets better soon. I wanted to wait for the morning and our regular vet but it was bleeding pretty badly.

S30 is what Nissan calls the 240Z, 415 is my area code. S30 is a very well known code, like saying e30 M3 or something, but I could see not knowing an area code.

When put together , they really make no sense to me, but even removed, I’m not familiar with S30. Now if you said S13 I’d know that one.

Oz is reopening given Covid is pretty much under control here (less than 100 dead so far, new infection numbers typically less than 10 per day ) and the dentist called me this morning to say they were back on this week...

Makes sense, if I were in the same boat I would have taken ours to a local 24 hour vet which I’m sure would get very expensive too.
